Opening

Hello again.

It's nice to be back.

Over the past few weeks, two things quietly reached the finish line.

The first was The Things That Matter. After months of living with it, it finally found its way into the world.

The second was something less obvious.

AVAQ finally began to feel like itself.

Not because everything is finished.

Far from it.

There are still pages to write, collections to make, and ideas that seem to change every other day.

But for the first time, when I opened the website, I didn't see a project.

I saw a place.

A place that is slowly finding its own voice.

I'd like to stay with that thought for a little while.

The Things That Matter

While writing the book, I kept asking myself what deserves a place in our lives.

Strangely, the same question followed me while rebuilding the website.

Every page seemed to ask the same thing.

Does this earn its place?

That turned out to be much harder than I expected.

It's surprisingly easy to add things.

It's much harder to remove them.

Every photograph wanted to stay.

Every sentence sounded important.

Every section seemed necessary.

Until it wasn't.

Maybe building something isn't deciding what belongs.

Maybe it's learning what doesn't.
